With Louise's help I used a slingshot and fishing reel (below) to pull antenna support rope into the north tree. When we got to the south tree, one (brand-new) rubber band on the slingshot tore, so I had to stop and install another pair.
We shot a weight attached to monofilament fishing line many times. On some shots, the weight missed the target crotch or didn't reach it at all. Several times, the loop at the end of the line broke, and the weight flew into the forest, lost forever (we started with lead fishing weights, but after they all flew away, we switched to 3/8" steel nuts). Finally we managed to hit the intended crotch in both trees.
